My essential sleep toolkit is the only list of sleep must-haves you need! Everything here has been tried and tested by me and consistently delivers 12 hours of sleep at night and 2 - 3 hours of day time sleep.

  • Black-Out Blind

A darkened room is the most important part of an ideal sleep routine. Darkness tells your baby it is time to sleep.

  • Baby Sleeping Bag

A sleeping bag acts as a sleep trigger - telling your baby it’s time to sleep. It’s also safer than a classic blanket.

  • Safe Ventilated Cot

Keep your baby’s cot free of bumpers, soft toys and cushions to make sure it is safe.

  • Bedtime Book

Even as early as five or six months you can begin reading to your baby at nap and bedtime.

  • Bluetooth Speaker

A speaker you can control from outside your baby’s room is essential to act as a sleep trigger.

  • Mp3 Player

An old school MP3 player is perfect because there is no risk of incoming phone calls.

The Essential Sleep Tool Kit

Before you begin reading the Abundant Baby Sleep Book or enrolling in the Abundant Baby Sleep Course you should invest in the essential sleep tool kit.

Each item is an absolute must have on your journey to perfect sleep.

Think of it as the equipment you need before you begin a hike. You wouldn’t go without certain items like, waterproof trousers or a sandwich (Joey loves a sandwich!)

And the same here. You wouldn’t go without a sleeping bag when beginning your mission to twelve hours of sleep at night.

Black Out Blind - You can pick these up from Amazon for as little as ten pounds. The one I recommend is usually thirty pounds (but keep your eye out for sales). It’s a trusted brand and has never let me down. I’ve had the same one for six years now and it has come EVERYWHERE with us. I do not pack for a holiday without it.

Sleeping Bag - You’ll probably have to buy a few of things as they’re like clothes and you’ll need to keep buying the next size up. There are one size fit all options to consider but my biggest priority when buying was material and appropriate TOG for the weather/country you live in. Look for organic cotton or wool and make sure you find out the exact TOG you should be buying.

Cot - The first time round I went all out and bought a Silver Cross cot. I wanted the absolute best and I had the money to do it. However, with my second daughter we had given the cot away and did not have the money to splash out again. So guess what? We went for the most basic natural wooden cot which was an absolute steal and has been amazing. The most important thing when looking for a baby cot is to check it does not have a retractable side and that it is made from natural materials which are non-toxic to your baby.

Bedtime Books - I LOVE bedtime books. I love all books. I spend all day reading to my chumpa lumpas and I just love it. A bedtime routine is not complete without a good book. Find a book that’s fun for you to read (I like books with not too many words!!) and hopefully a sleepy theme to get everybody in the mood for bedtime.

Bluetooth Speaker - There is a huge range of speakers. Obviously, the more money you buy, the better the sound quality. BUT, you’re not holding a rave. You simply want a good quality speaker to play music at a low level to soothe your baby. The most important thing is reliability and battery life.

MP3 Player - Old school, I know! But you can just use your phone if you prefer. However, this does mean it will be on aeroplane mode all night. While you may enjoy the screen time rest, if you’d rather not have a digital detox every night a MP3 Player is a good choice.
